Sitting with the charts
Board reading
A ninety-minute sitting in which the sheets are walked in hanging order and the forecast range is spoken, not slid past.
A board reading is for the hour when the sheets are already on the table and the argument has not yet started. Elene Maisuradze walks the hanging order, names the comparisons that are fair, and reads the forecast range we are willing to stand behind.
If the sheets are ours, the sitting is usually the last stage of a briefing. If the sheets are yours, send them a week ahead. We will say whether they can be read as they stand or whether a redraw is kinder than a strained sitting.
The room should have a wall or a table large enough for the charts to be seen together. We bring clips and spare prints. We do not bring a second briefing disguised as a conversation.
